FLINT GET'S THE GWBA GOLD

FLINT,MI- The Flint Monarchs continued their winning ways and became the first champions of the Global Women's Basketball Association. A win over the Milwaukee Aces and the Akron Innovators has solidified their legacy and their historic run as three peat champions in two leagues.

The Monarchs were missing their star player, Jasmine McCall, due to traveling overseas, but still got the victory 99-52. Although Akron put up a fight early it was not enough to close the gap.

"I am very proud of my team and happy to be a part of the GWBA. It has been a fantastic year with a well executed league" said team owner Drey Wynn.

Congratulation to the FLINT MONARCHS with this excellent achievement!!

Akron,OH- Led by five players in double figures, the Illinois Starletz ended their season with a statement as a force to be reckoned with in 2017. Shooting guard Jalise Olive caught fire early to lead all players with 37pts, followed by Small Forward Shavneia McPhearson's 27pts, for a final score of 110-74.

The Ohio Innovators played a tough game but came up short due to the balance scoring attack from the Starletz. In the absence of Head Coach Kim Williams, team owner Sonya Nichols filled in to gain a victory for the last game of the regular season. Due to being a Travel Team the Illinois Starletz will not participate in the playoffs.

"I am really excited about the talent on this team. With a few more additions I feel we will be able to compete at the championship level next season. We definitely plan to be a fully scheduled team next year and I don't see any reason why we would not place in the top two rankings" said owner Sonya Nichols.
